Bicycle thief (1948)



was a film directed by the Italian director Vittorio de sica during the golden age of italian neo realism era. A synopsis would be; When a family who gets the golden opportunity in the form of a job and a bicycle. But when its stolen from him how far will he and his family go to get back their future.

The film was well received by the general public even getting a academy honor award in 1950 and was dubbed one of the greatest films ever created.

With exclusively amateur actors and a low budget set up, this film actively portrays the lives of common Italian members of public back then during general hardship and was able to cultivate the emotion of the characters excellently.

how to spot one:

Commonly referred to as Italia's golden cinema era, these filmed captured moments of the civillians during the horrors of world war 2 as well as the aftermaths with the economic hardships, political disarray and social injustice among the working class members of the public and the upper class citizens.

The director's usual common choice to use unprofessional actors to convey the true feeling of the hardship of common folk during the times of the Nazi occupation.

The purposeful documentary feeling with unnatural lighting

Some factors were often exaggerated to emphasize the unhappiness of the Italian people from all grounds.

And the films were all filmed on location

Who was he?

He was an animator who was active through america's golden age of animation. Working in Looney toons, he created many adored and memorable characters before his retirement in 2001.

Characters he created:

Sniffles, Pepe le pew, Penelope pussycat, Marvin the Martian, The road runner, Wile E. coyote, Herbert and bertie as well as numerous others.

What studios did they work for?

What changes to the characters were made over time?
Marvin the Martian:

 He didn't change too much since his creating back in 1952 where he first aired in 'the commander of flying saucer X-2' however his name was chosen and solidified later. He was modeled to after the roman god mars; taking the helm and skirt from the god himself and plopping it on this thin and black faced alien with only eyes on his face, obviously lacking other facial features. The only times he drastically changed was when he was adapted for live film purposes when he showed in 'Space jam' starring Michael Jordan.

Bake mono no ko~ BSA 206 critical research practice

Beake mono no ko is an excellent japanese animated film by the studio Chizu. Its about the fantastical fantasy world in comparison to our own modern world where we have lost our way and forgotten who we are. One day after a loss of his mother, a distraught boy stumbles into the magical world where he is taken under the wing of Kumotetsu. A usually sloppy and unkempt master of the sword whose fate becomes one with Ren (the boy) as they both mature into who they were meant to be.

A beautiful story and overall excellent character developments. Masterful story telling driven through with colorful visuals making this the best movie I've personally seen in months to be honest. It was different enough to refresh me creatively yet familiar enough for me to be able to relate relentlessly throughout the entirety of the film :) an honestly big thank you to all those responsible to bringing such a beautiful world to the material world~

Update on 3d

I still need to do things for her like fully UV unwrapping and texturing her (which is when i'll give her that dark under-eye smudge and eyebrows that make her look more.. her??XD)

But I need to hustle because this things due on monday and I need to work on my 3d enviroment which i havened even developed further yet because i spent half my holidays studying for my learners..XDD ah well...

I need to do all of the art panels planned for Juliet's class by the queen's birthday so they can be printed off not to mention I need to finish 3 a2 landscape drawings for drawing class due on the same time.. yipee..XD ah well.. I guess I signed up for this?
